LEAD SERVICES LINES
The City has replaced more than 2,000 lead service lines, and there are only a few remaining. Soon the City will be free of lead service lines. Our DPW and contractors have been working diligently to remove the lead service lines so that there is no chance of lead poisoning in Eastpointe.
NINE MILE
Our main street in the City is being reconstructed, and we are improving it. My hope was that we would reduce the road from five lanes to three lanes across the entire City, but we will be doing so from Schroeder to Kelly. This change will improve safety along the corridor, and will make the road more walkable. Improving the street will also improve business and economic development.
NEW POLICE/COURT BUILDING
Our current police department and 38th District Court need an upgraded building. The current court does not have an adequate lobby. The current police department is in a 70+ year building that could use better infrastructure. Our State Senator Veronica Klinefelt has secured $8 million dollars in funding for it, and we have set aside $2 million dollars in our General Fund for the building. We are working diligently to build a new building!
